A simple reinforcing
tape with suitable technical characteristics can make a decisive contribution to improving
the quality of footwear and above all to lowering production costs by
avoiding rejects. Serafini are known worldwide and now offer new tapes like Brad, Pitt and
Stopper, in fact the company specializes in materials and fabrics for reinforcing shoe
uppers and some parts of leather goods. Brad and Pitt taping is applicable on automated
machinery being designed to strengthen necklines or the shoe's most stressed parts such as
sandal straps. The standard product is Brad of which Pitt is the cheaper version. Their
main characteristics are: high breaking point, sufficient elasticity to enable uppers to
keep their shape and ensure that the neckline does not break during lasting, high
flexiibility guaranteeing that the tape follows the curves of uppers, minimum
thicknesses. |
| Brad: %
polyester braid which as well as being thermosealed has a structure of chain woven
fabric. It is supplied by width which varies from 1 to 7 mm, on spools of different
lenghts. Pitt: structure of thermosealed yarns on 100% polyester base, available on spools
of 2,000 mt, being 1 mm wide, also available on spools 1,5oo mt in lenght and 1.5 mm
width. Finally Stopper which is designed for use in shoe lasting, its function being to
prevent lengthening of uppers with an elastic which on completion of the operation is
